Barakaldo, Bizkaia, España // 2018
In 2017 the City of Barakaldo in association with Werckmeister and Bakeola Association initiated the process of creating a collaborative mural in the central square of the city.
The process included 8 community meetings to share and discuss the main theme of the project: Historical Memory. The group shared experiences, information, documentation and imagery with which Werckmeister and 2 local artists created the mural´s design.
Historical Memory being the primary subjetc the workshops consisted in finding a way to illustrate the city´s historical identity, its development and its principle milestones. All of this information was contextualized and transformed to depict the city´s history from the Spanish Civil War to the period of transition to democracy after the Franco Dictatorship.
